Tlalpujahua Magical Town

Once a key producer of silver gold, this long-abandoned mining town was reinvented decades ago and today makes its living by handcrafting hand-blown glass and Christmas ornaments year round.

You’ll see why Tlalpujahua was among the first villages to be granted the status of a “Magical Town” by the federal government back in 2005!  Its quaint, windy cobble-stoned streets and red-tiled roofs hold lots of surprises.  Aside from the hand-blown ornaments there are the delicious home-made marmalades and crystallized fruits as well as a nationally renown master feather and straw mosaic artisan. We will visit local workshops and a historic landmark or two on this walking-shopping trip.

If your interests are mining or pottery, we can make a detour to a fascinating Museum-Mine and modern ceramic atelier!

If necessary, we can make arrangements for transportation to this Magical Town, approximately 2 hours away from Mexico City.
