We are not a large “cookie-cutter” outfit.  Nor are we a travel agency.  Our niche is concierge tourism.  That means we provide personalized service, working closely with our clients to suit their individualized needs and timetables.  Our pricing is transparent and affordable for the quality of the service provided.  We are not the cheapest service out there, however, we are proud to offer unequaled quality visits at an affordable, competitive price.  We won’t take you to gift shops to make a commission.  We will provide you with solid, informative and entertaining explanations of the sites of your selection.

We offer both PRIVATE TOURS and ORGANIZED GROUP TOURS.  That is (1) custom-made tours that you can tweak to your liking and (2) set, pre-planned, pre-programmed tours (you will find those scheduled on our calendar – the button is on the top blue ribbon of this page).

We accept Paypal, Zelle, and electronic transfers from both Mexican and US banks.

(1) PERSONALIZED PRIVATE TOURS Our premium tours are customized for you based on your interests, your needs, and your schedule.  We can put together a tailor-made itinerary based on what you want to see and do.  We are federally licensed and authorized by the Ministry of Tourism to work in both English and Spanish.

Art, architecture, history (be it pre-Hispanic or viceregal), walking tours, handicrafts, ecclesiastic art, markets, shopping, food, museums, or smaller out-of-the-way towns and villages.  You name it, we are well-versed in designing private tours!

We have grouped our most requested routes into two categories: Mexico City Tours and Outside CDMX Tours.  Click on the colored “Mexico City Tours” or “Outside CDMX [the abbreviation for Mexico City in Spanish]” buttons on the top blue ribbon to get an idea of the activities most requested.  There are simply too many wonderful spots to visit in Mexico to list them all here.  Let us know what you are interested in.  Our goal is to meet your needs, make recommendations and prepare a custom-designed tour to suit your interests.  We are FEDERALLY licensed and have official permission to work throughout the entire country.

IN A NUTSHELL, OUR PERSONALIZED PRIVATE TOURS provide a 3-hour minimum visit to the site(s) of your choice.

FEES: US$65 per hour (NOT per person) for up to 10 people; US$75 per hour for 11-20 people.  Three-hour minimum.

This price does NOT include entrance fees, transportation or refreshments.  Since we are not a travel agency, we don’t own any vehicles but can easily arrange transportation, be it a small van, Suburban or bus, depending on the size of your party.

By federal law, 25 is the maximum number of a group.  For larger groups, we can provide an adjunct guide to comply with the law.  We can also provide headsets (at a modest fee) to ensure that all participants can hear comfortably.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE A STRICT 48-HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY IN EFFECT FOR ALL TOURS regardless of the reason (airlines don’t give you that much leeway!).

(2) SET, ORGANIZED GROUP TOURS are pre-planned visits, with a fixed date and time to predetermined sites. Click on the “Calendar” button (on the top blue ribbon) to see what’s programmed.  These tours are open to the general public. They are usually programmed in English (occasionally we offer group tours in Spanish).

IN A NUTSHELL, ORGANIZED GROUP TOURS last approximately 3 hours.

FEE: $550 Mexican Pesos (or equivalent in US Dollars) PER PERSON per tour, pre-paid 48 hours before the tour.

This does NOT include entrance fees, transportation, or refreshments.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE A STRICT 48-HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY IN EFFECT FOR ALL TOURS regardless of the reason (airlines don’t give you that much leeway!).

(3) TALKS

Understand Mexico offers a wide array of talks and colorful PowerPoint presentations and conferences on sundry topics related to Mexico and Mexican culture.  These talks can be given in person or via Zoom.  Subjects include archaeology, history, ethnography, and regional sites to name a few. We also provide intercultural briefings and an introduction to living in Mexico for ex-pats. Click on the “Talks” button on the top blue ribbon for a listing of our most popular requests.
