The “MAP” or Museum of Popular Arts has the finest collection of Mexican folk art in the country. The hand-picked items reflect the impressive quality of workmanship still to be found in Mexico. The building itself is well worth the visit – one of the finest examples of art deco (built in 1927), originally constructed to be the downtown fire station. With very clever architectural modifications, it makes the perfect backdrop for the most amazing collection of handicrafts in Mexico. A must for arts and crafts lovers! It also happens to house the best handicraft shop in the city! At the end of the tour we will take a short walk to Mexico’s one block-long Chinatown and trendy gourmet food market.
