The charming town of Metepec, a suburb of Toluca, is famous for its intricate pottery, particularly its “Arboles de la Vida” or “Trees of Life” which originally narrated the Biblical story of Adam and Eve, but more recently has adapted to modern life and include movie stars and soccer players, or you can even commission a family tree that includes your own family members! We begin our visit at a local museum which showcases outstanding examples of this unique, signature handicraft, before visiting a church or two (sorry, it is part of the culture of Mexican towns!). We will end at a local workshop where we will have a chance to see how the artisans craft these elaborate items. This is a very unusual morning out where you’ll have the opportunity to meet and converse with local artisans, learn how they make their unique crafts and maybe get a little shopping in as well!
Metepec is about one hour from Mexico City. We can arrange transportation if required.
