Exploring Modern Art

The vibrant works of well-known and yet-to-be-discovered Mexican and Latin American artists are on view in numerous museums and galleries around the city. The variety of art on view in Mexico City ranges from the more classical Museum of Modern Art (20th century Mexican art), to the Dolores Olmedo Museum (which houses the largest private collection of Frida Kahlo paintings), the Palace of Fine Arts (with fresco murals of Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Jose Clemente Orozco and many more artists) and the emblematic Soumaya Museum (housing Mexican magnate Carlos Slim’s personal art collection ranging from Dalis and Renoirs to colonial art).

Certainly, Mexico City is home to sundry contemporary art venues with impressive installational art such as the Tamayo Museum on Reforma Avenue, new-kid-on-the-block Jumex Museum and the MUAC Museum of Contemporary Art on the UNAM Campus, aside from dozens of established art galleries including Casa Lamm, OMR, Proyectos Monclova and Kurimanzutto to name a few. If you are interested in modern or contemporary art – for viewing or purchase – Mexico City is definitely the place to visit!

There are many museums and galleries to choose from.  We will prepare a tailor-make route for you based on your particular taste.  The tour will run approximately 3 hours depending on the sites selected.
